[[File:Ann Bannon in 1983.jpg|right|thumb|Ann Bannon in 1983. The books' enduring popularity and impact on lesbian identity has earned her the title "Queen of Lesbian Pulp Fiction". They are taught in Women's and LGBT studies courses, and Bannon has received numerous awards for pioneering lesbian and gay literature.<ref>{{citation | author = Costello, Becca | url = http://www.newsreview.com/sacramento/Content?oid=12449 | title = Pulp friction|work=Sacramento News & Review | date = 2002-06-20 | access-date = 2007-12-02}}</ref> ==Illness== Bannon had a difficult 27 year long marriage, and upon getting divorced, around the same time that her books were republished and she learnt for the first time of their widespread impact, she suffered for a period of [[chronic fatigue syndrome]] (CFS). She connects her illness to having repressed herself for so long - "You've got to think that it's connected, somehow. At the time I denied it fiercely, but I really think I beat myself up horribly, in ways I'll never know."<ref>{{Cite book | last = Cain | first = Paul | date = 2007|chapter=Ann Bannon | title = Leading the parade: Conversations with America's most influential lesbians and gay men| publisher = Scarecrow Press, Inc. | pages = 155β163|isbn=0-8108-5913-0}}</ref> ==Online presence== *[http://www.annbannon.com/ Official website] ==Learn more== *[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ann_Bannon Wikipedia - Ann Banon] ==References== {{Reflist}} [[Category:People with ME, CFS, and/or FMS]] [[Category:Famous people with ME, CFS, and/or FMS]] [[Category:American famous people with ME, CFS, and/or FMS]]
